Three Years Ago Today . . .

. . . I received a life changing phone call from Robin; undoubtedly the best phone call of my life.

"She's here! We have pictures of our baby!"

I can't believe that three years have flown by already. You have grown and blossomed into a fascinating little girl with a love of learning, a great athletic ability, a sly sense of humour, and a beautiful empathy for others. We are certainly fortunate to have you in our lives.

Here's our girl earlier today.
Here's our little girl last year, 2009.
And, finally, our baby in 2008.

Last Soccer Game - June 23

Wednesday was Amy's last soccer game of the year, and wow, what a game. It was as if the switch went on and she really got the game. She was not afraid to enter the scrum and kick out the ball, then kick it down the pitch for a goal. She still needs to work on the whole teamwork, passing thing, but maybe that will happen next year. Here she is after one of her many goals she scored. Woo hoo!
Every goal, she runs joyously down the pitch . . .
. . . straight into . . .
. . . Coach Daddy's arms for a celebratory hug.

Father's Day - Part Two

On Father's Day, we had such a long and exciting day, that Amy fell asleep at the table. So, Amy gave Daddy his gift Wednesday morning. Needless to say, he was very excited. Amy was so pleased to have Daddy open it as well.
It's a beautiful picture of his little girl in a flashy custom frame.
And look! It's a new shirt . . . card.
You made Daddy's day.

Graduation - June 22nd

Yes. Today was graduation from Montessori. A much anticipated day around here.

To begin, Amy and I made some treats to share with her class. Then it was off to school.
The ceremony was short, but sweet. They sang a few songs and recited a poem. Then all the kids received a bag of treats from the teachers.
We were all so proud of our girl. Daddy . . .
. . . Seany and Krissy . . .
. . . and Mommy. We all love you.
Amy absolutely loves her teacher Miss Christina and, if all goes well, she will have her next year as well.
There was also Miss Mary Ann, Miss Jackie and Miss Yasamin (neither of which I could get a picture of). All of her teachers were so great to her this year and she has grown so much.
Then there is Amy's best friend Marissa. Amy talks about her all the time and misses her tremendously when she is not at school.
After the ceremony, we all went out for lunch, including Marissa. Both girls were very excited to be going out for lunch together. They certainly enjoy one another's company and it was so neat to see how well they click . . . and it was only a little tiring!

Happy graduation Pal. We love you.

The Marathon

Today was the marathon. We were up by 4:45 am (some of us a little earlier) and out of the house shortly thereafter. By 6: 30, this was what we were looking at. Here they come.
Recognize anyone?
Here she comes!
Mommy and Daddy are so proud of their little girl.
And we're very proud of our big kids too who ran the Half Marathon.
After Sean and Kristin started their run, the three of us went to the end point where Robin took up his role as announcer. He did a great job of calling out people's names as they came into the stadium.
We did manage to see Kristin come in, but we unfortunately missed Sean - he somehow snuck in without the announcer noticing his name. In Robin's defence, the names were coming in fast and Sean's name slipped by, thus, no pictures. Sorry Sean.
One happy Dad with his great kids on Father's Day.

After the marathon, we went back home for a swim in the pool and dinner with family. We were all sitting down to dinner when we noticed Amy.
After being up super early and then swimming for five hours, someone just couldn't keep her eyes open any longer.
I hope you had a great Father's Day Robin.

Oh Happy Day!

The first thing Amy said when she woke up this morning was, "Krissy and Seany come tonight, right?". Yep! Tonight's the night!

Kristin actually flew in this morning and was there to pick Amy up after school. The two of them went shopping and then joined Mommy and Daddy (who were enjoying a quiet drink - thank you Krissy) for dinner at a Chinese restaurant. After dinner it was a quick drive to the airport to collect Sean.

Following the reunion of the siblings, we headed home to break into the new game Krissy bought for Amy, Monopoly Town. It took no time at all for someone to get the hang of it and promote herself to be Banker. And that little guy that talks; he's not annoying at all!

Soccer Tournament

This weekend was Amy's big soccer tournament. I say big because there were at least forty teams participating. The kids played three thirty minute games as opposed to the fifteen minute games twice a week that they are currently experiencing. It was interesting to watch the kids play well the first game, really well the second game, and not so well the third game due to exhaustion. Even the coaches were lagging behind. There was a bit of a wait before the medals and unfortunately, only three of the seven kids were able to stay.
Amy loved her medal and took it to school the next day in her purse to show all her friends.
You'd never guess from this picture that we went home and did not head straight for bed. Nope. It was home for an hour long swim and then a lobster dinner with friends.
